The Department of French and Russian currently has six faculty members, including one professor and one associate professor. Faculty members of the department have successively participated in the formulation and revision of the "French Teaching Syllabus" and "French Teaching Requirements" issued by the Ministry of Education. One faculty member serves as a member of the University Foreign Language Teaching Steering Committee under the Ministry of Education, undertaking the task of proposition and review for French examinations organized by the National Education Examinations Authority. The department’s faculty are responsible for or participate in French examinations conducted by the National Medical Examination Center of the National Health Commission, with some appointed as chief reviewer and deputy chief reviewer of the examination review group. Multiple teachers act as chief editor and contributors for Volume 3 of New Century College French (published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press), and have independently compiled several volumes of Medical French textbooks tailored for the seven-year and eight-year clinical medicine programs taught in French.
In recent years, faculty members of the department have presided over 1 Key Project, 2 General Projects, and 1 Youth Project of the National Social Science Fund of China, as well as 1 Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Project. They have also participated in 4 national, provincial, and ministerial-level research projects, compiled 7 textbooks, published 4 monographs and 1 translated work, and authored more than 20 academic papers. Additionally, they have guided students to win 1 national-level award.
Founded in February 2019, the Department of French and Russian will continuously strengthen its faculty team with the recruitment of outstanding talents from home and abroad. Currently, the undergraduate program of French as a second major has been launched, and the enrollment for Master of Arts in French and Master of Arts in Russian will commence soon.
